My coworker switched up after the person protection her was fired.

A lady and I joined our company around the same time, and we were actually cool with each other at first. We talked regularly and got along well.
Things changed after she became extremely close to our head of sales. The head of sales had recently been brought into our branch because our performance wasn't great, and the CEO wanted her to turn things around.

Once my coworker became close to her, her whole attitude towards me changed. She started ignoring me and acting like I barely
existed. She also started acting like she was untouchable because she had someone powerful backing her.
The worst part was that she would insert herself into conversations she wasn't part of. If everyone was chatting about something, she would find a way to record it or report it to the
head of sales. Before long, everyone became very careful around her. People would literally stop talking when she walked into the room because nobody knew what she might repeat.
Plot twist, the head of sales was fired for poor performance. And almost immediately, the same person who had been acting like she ran the place started

trying to be everyone's friend. She became noticeably nicer, started approaching everyone for conversations, and even went to our Branch Manager to apologise for some of her previous behaviour.
Now she's been trying to talk to me too, but I'm keeping my distance. I'm not ride to her, but I'm also not going to suddenly pretend we're friends after the way she treated me.
Would you forgive and start being friendly with someone like this or keep your distance?

Vandreeson Nope. She showed you who and what she really is.
Vibe_me_pos Talk about work only and specifically questions you or she need answered to do your jobs. I wouldn't even talk about the weather with her. She is not to be trusted.
lun4d0r4 Here's the thing, work people are NOT your friends unless you actively engage outside of work. If you don't, they are friendLY colleagues at absolute max.
She hitched her cart to a loser and in doing so showed that her friendship is a workplace power play only.
Not worth the time of day. I would not engage beyond work tasks and grey rocking.

Exciting Vegetable315 I think you're making a mistake. You think that people you work with are your friends. They are not.
